Hapū Every member is encouraged to list all hapū they affiliate to - we want our mokopuna to be able to see where they’ve come from. From those hapu you are asked to nominate one hapu as your VOTING HAPŪ. Process of verification Applications are reviewed monthly by the Whakapapa Committee, made up of 5 members with the expertise and knowledge of Ngāti Awa whakapapa. If you are unsure of your whakapapa we ask that you supply copies of any support documentation available, i.e. Māori Land Court records, information on land blocks, marriage certificates etc. [These documents are only required should you be unclear about whether you are of Ngāti Awa descent]. We ask that you provide a current email address so that confirmation of your membership can be sent with your Ngāti Awa Register number.
What is our personal information used for? To inform and communicate with members on matters surrounding the Charter, the direction and opportunities for the Rūnanga.
It may be that your address details are incorrect, or we don’t have a verified date of birth – the absence of this information will mean the Rūnanga is unable to communicate with you.
