For many years, the Rūnanga has used the symbol of a bird to represent new directions, new initiatives, new horizons and optimism for Ngāti Awa people.

To build a strong cultural, social, political and economic base for

ngā uri o ngā hapū o Ngāti Awa by:

• Improving whanau, marae, hapū and iwi capability
