Development Ngāti Awa (DNA) was established by the Charter to assist Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Awa to develop a strong cultural, social, political and economic base for Ngāti Awa.
To this end, the primary role of Development Ngāti Awa is to develop strategic policy based on the identified needs and aspirations of ngā uri o ngā hapu o Ngāti Awa. These strategic policies will contribute to positive cultural, social, political and economic outcomes for Ngāti Awa.
The secondary roles of Development Ngāti Awa include:

The Trust has developed a set of strategic objectives for the next five years. The annual plan and five year plan detail how these objectives will be implemented and achieved. These strategic objectives are:
